Carvanha is a dual type Water and Dark Pokemon introduced in Generation III. It evolves into Sharpedo starting at level 30. Take a look below for 24 fun and interesting facts about Carvanha.

1. Carvanha is a fish Pokemon with a body covered in tiny, sharp denticles.

2. The top half of its spherical body is blue, while the bottom half is red with a yellow, four-pointed star below its mouth.

3. It has two yellow dorsal fins above its eyes that resemble shark fins, and a matching pelvic fin on its belly. Its pectoral fins are also yellow.

4. The caudal fin is composed of two red spines with a thin yellow membrane stretched between them.

5. It has powerful jaws and razor sharp teeth that are able to chew through solid steel and rip up boat hulls.

6. It swarms any intruder and prey that invade its territory, and becomes timid when it is alone. 

7. It lives in rivers that course through jungles, as well as temperate regions.

8. Carvanha is tied with Magikarp, Attack Forme Deoxys, Igglybuff, Caterpie, and Weedle for the lowest base Special Defense stat of all Pokémon.

9. Carvanha has the lowest base Defense stat of all Dark-type Pokémon.

10. Carvanha and Sharpedo are the only Dark-type Pokémon to have a piscine body.

11. Carvanha is mostly based on piranhas.

12. Carvanha may be a combination of carve or carnivore and piranha. It may also be related to Carcharodon carcharias (“sharp-toothed shark”), the Great White Shark.

13. Multiple Carvanha debuted in A Corphish Out of Water. When Ash had to take his sick Corphish to a Pokémon Center, he had to cross a river that was infested with Carvanha.
