Hakamo-o is a dual-type Dragon/Fighting Pokémon introduced in Generation VII. It evolves from Jangmo-o starting at level 35 and evolves into Kommo-o starting at level 45. Take a look below for 29 awesome and interesting facts about Hakamo-o.

1. Hakamo-o is a bipedal, reptilian Pokemon with many scaly plates.

2. Most of its body is light gray, but it has dark gray arms and legs.

3. It has angular, red eyes, a rounded, beak-like snout with a small spike on either side of the upper jaw similar to teeth, and two small scales standing up on either side of its head.

4. Down the center of its chest is a line of three slightly raised scales, and there is a matching line of four scales down its back.

5. Several slightly raised gray scales overlap its shoulders.

6. In between its shoulders and on each side of its head is a small, white crest made of feathers.

7. It has three yellow claws on each appendage and a long, tapering tail.

8. This Pokémon has many scale plates on its body as well.

9. There is a yellow one on its forehead, which is oval with a light yellow, heart-shaped stripe across the middle.

10. Two circular scales cover the front of its neck; both are light yellow with darker edges.

11. The tops of its arms are covered by three overlapping scales.

12. The first two arm scales are gray with yellow trim, but the last scale is red with yellow trim and much larger.

13. At the tip of its tail is a small, circular scale.

14. This last scale has a light yellow portion before ending in a darker yellow.

15. This Pokémon leaves its fellows to begin training on its own and can be found wherever there are opponents for it to fight.

16. When it finds an opponent, it dances and clangs its scales together to show its strength.

17. This ferocious dance climaxes with a challenging war cry.

18. Because its scales serve as armor, it overwhelms its opponent with attacks without worrying about its own defense.

19. This battle style causes many of its scales are torn off or broken.

20. Hakamo-o considers its broken armor and bare arms as proof of a well-fought battle and wears them with pride.

21. However, the scale begin growing back immediately and harder and sharper than before.

22. Its scale conduct heat well, so shed ones are often molded into pots and pans.

23. No other Pokémon has the same type combination as Hakamo-o and its evolved form.

24. Hakamo-o and Kommo-o are also the only non-Dark-type Pokémon that have a double weakness to Fairy-type moves.

25. Hakamo-o is the only pre-evolved form of a pseudo-legendary Pokémon to have a different typing than its pre-evolved form.

26. Hakamo-o appears to be based on a theropod dinosaur with some traits from ankylosaurs. Hakamo-o’s ritual war cries prior to confronting an opponent seems to allude to Haka, war dances by Polynesian warriors.

27. Hakamo-o may be from Haka, a type of war dance present across various Polynesian cultures that involves vigorous movements and foot stamping, and mo’o (Hawaiian for lizard or dragon).

28. Three Hakamo-o debuted in Family Determination!, where they were among the Ally Pokémon to a Totem Kommo-o. They battled Lillie and Gladion, but were defeated by the teamwork of Silvally and Snowy. They reappeared in Revealing the Stuff of Legend!, where they and another Hakamo-o attacked Professor Burnet and her Munchlax before being warded away by Professor Kukui’s Braviary.

29. A Hakamo-o appeared in Evolving Research! as a resident of Vast Poni Canyon. It was briefly battled by Pikachu.
