1. Torkoal is a tortoise like, quadruped Pokemon.

2. It has a large black rock-like shell with holes that glow with a red warmth.

3. Its skin is reddish brown with gray-black bands on its legs and neck. 

4. It has a long neck and its eyes seem permanently closed.

5. Torkoal lives in mountains and volcanic areas, where it looks for large deposits of coal.

6. It uses the coal to fill the hollow spaces in its shell, and then burns it for energy.

7. Because coal is Torkoal’s source of energy, it becomes immobile once it runs out of coal to burn.

8. A Torkoal is healthy if the smoke spouting from its shell has tremendous velocity. 

9. When it blows out smoke from its nostrils and the top of its back, it sounds like a locomotive horn.

10. It blows out black smoke before fleeing and while being attacked.

11. Torkoal is tied with Slugma, Litwick, and Mega Camerupt for the lowest base Speed stat of all Fire-type Pokémon.

20. A Torkoal appeared in A Recipe for Success!, where it provided heat for Mallow so she could cook food at Oranguru’s place. It reappeared in a flashback in Dreaming of the Sun and Moon!.

21. A Trainer’s Torkoal appeared in Battle Royal 151!, where it competed in the Battle Royal preliminary round of the Manalo Conference but ended up losing.
