Registeel is a Steel type Legendary Pokemon introduced in Generation III. It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokemon. Along with Regirock and Regice, it is one of the three Legendary titans of Hoenn. Take a look below for 21 fun and interesting facts about Registeel.
1. The top half of Registeel’s body is spherical and gray with a black stripe running down its “face.”
2. Its face consists of seven red dots in a hexagonal formation.
3. It has black arms with three fingers each and cylindrical legs.
4. While Registeel has been classified as a Steel-type Pokémon, its body is actually made of a material that is harder than any known metal. However, this material stretches and shrinks despite its hardness.
5. Its body was tempered by pressure underground over thousands of years.
6. In the non-English European versions of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Registeel’s sprite was edited because of its arm. The arm’s original position is reminiscent of the Nazi salute. In Pokémon Platinum, the sprite was changed for all regions to the continental European variation (this change was retained in HeartGold and SoulSilver).
7. In the international versions of Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, there is an unobtainable Registeel Doll programmed into the game. It was unlockable with the Japan-exclusive Regi-Dolls Decoration set e-Reader card.
8. Registeel is tied with Probopass for the highest base Special Defense stat of all Steel-type Pokémon.
9. Registeel shares both its standard and hidden Abilities with Beldum and its evolutions.
10. Registeel may be based on the golems of Hebrew legend. The legends cast them as servants of higher powers and are said to have writing on their heads. When the writing is removed, the creature would be weakened, or even killed in some legends.
11. Registeel is the combination of the words regis (Latin for royal) and steel.
12. Registeel appeared alongside the other members of its trio in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. The three were guardians of the Tree of Beginning. Registeel first attacked Team Rocket, but when they tried to flee, it attacked Ash and his friends too. After everyone was saved by Mew, it, together with Regice and Regirock, realized they were not a danger and left.
13. Registeel made its main series debut in Overjoyed!, under the ownership of Brandon. Ash and Torkoal battled against it but lost. It reappeared in Pace – The Final Frontier! alongside Regirock, where they blasted off Team Rocket. It appeared again in A Pyramiding Rage! and Pillars of Friendship!.
14. Registeel debuted in a brief cameo during the opening sequence of Destiny Deoxys.
15. A Registeel made a cameo appearance alongside the other members of its trio in the opening sequence of The Rise of Darkrai, where they all fired Hyper Beams that combined into an extremely powerful one.
16. A Registeel briefly appeared in PK18, where it sent Meowth and his cronies blasting off after they mistook him for a floating Pokémon.
17. A Registeel appeared in a flashback in Pillars of Friendship!.
18. Registeel debuted in The Beginning of the End with Kyogre & Groudon XIV, when Drake attempted to open the Ancient Tomb. Together, Steven and Sapphire created a team consisting of four Beldum and Sapphire’s Relicanth and Wailord, thus opening up the chamber containing Registeel, as well as the other two titans, Regirock and Regice. Registeel used Superpower to stop Groudon and Kyogre from spreading destruction. After the battle, it and the other two titans—left weak and powerless—traveled to the mountains, where they were later caught by Brandon shortly before the opening ceremony of the Battle Frontier.
19. Brandon used Registeel first in his battle with Emerald, where it squared off against the Hitmonchan the boy borrowed from Crystal. Though Registeel took considerable damage from the accumulation of many Fire Punches and was eventually beaten by a strong Sky Uppercut attack, it managed to cause its opponent to faint as well with a clever Toxic maneuver. It has not been seen since.
20. Registeel, along with the other two Legendary titans, are seen under the possession of Candice. She uses them against Hareta to test his worthiness to challenge Regigigas in A Novel Test!!.
21. Registeel appears as an occasional stage hazard in the Ironworks Chamber of the Kalos Pokémon League stage. Appearing rarely, it will use Stomp to dislodge the swords embedded in the stage, causing them to fly upwards and damage fighters. Grounded characters will also take damage from Stomp.
