27 Interesting And Fun Facts About Foongus From Pokemon

Foongus is a dual-type Grass/Poison Pokémon introduced in Generation V. It evolves into Amoonguss starting at level 39. Take a look below for 27 interesting and fun facts about Foongus.

1. Foongus is a white mushroom like Pokemon with a cap that looks quite similar to a Poke Ball.

2. It has stubby, digit-less arms, a large pink mouth, and pinprick-like dark eyes.

3. It uses the Poké Ball-like pattern on its head to lure people and Pokémon in grassy areas, then releases a cloud of poisonous spores to defend itself.

4. It moves by either hopping or turning on its side and rolling on its cap.

5. Foongus, along with its evolution, is similar to Voltorb and Electrode in that it resembles a Poké Ball.

6. Unlike Voltorb and Electrode, it only has a Poké Ball design on it, instead of being in the shape of one.

7. It features the whole design, complete with the circle resembling the button in the middle (contrary to Voltorb’s evolution line having just the shape and general colors, and according to the Pokédex, being transformed Poké Balls themselves).

8. Foongus’s Shiny form’s coloration is reminiscent of that of the Master Ball. It shares this trait with its evolved form.

9. Foongus and its evolved form share their species name with Paras, Parasect, Shroomish, and Breloom. They are all known as the Mushroom Pokémon.

10. Foongus has the lowest base Speed stat of all Poison-type Pokémon.

11. Foongus appears to be based on Amanita muscaria or mushrooms of the Agaricus genus, due to it being Poison-type.

12. Like Voltorb and its evolved form, the idea of them being mistaken for the standard Item Balls is similar to a mimic, a monster archetype commonly found in RPGs.

13. Foongus is a corruption of fungus and may be a combination of fool (to deceive, referencing its use of its Poké Ball-like cap to attract unsuspecting prey) and fungus. Together with its evolution, their names are a corruption of the phrase, “Fungus among us.”
