5. The city was named after Lowell, Maine.

6. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.19 square miles (3.08 km2), of which, 0.87 square miles (2.25 km2) is land and 0.32 square miles (0.83 km2) is water.

7. The town of Lowell is surrounded by three reservoirs, respectively Dexter, Lookout Point, and Fall Creek.
